North West Ireland Tour & The NW200

Tour duration: 6 days / 5 nights
Tour Area :  Antrim Coast, County Donegal and a chance to watch the NW200 road races.

Roads: Mixture of Motorway, A,B and unfenced roads.
Accommodation:  3 Star luxury hotel's with swimming pool and leisure facilities.

A great tour to the North West of Ireland with the opportunity to watch the famous Northwest 200 motorcycle races. After an overnight stop in a 3 star hotel near Dumfries we have plenty of time to catch the midday ferry to Ireland. On arrival we travel to the outskirts of the historic walled city of Derry where a 3 star hotel complete with swimming pool is your base for duration of the tour. 

Although there will be daily rideouts, once at your hotel your time is your own. We have purposely chosen Derry for our base as it is ideally suited for not only getting to the NW200 road races but touring the Northwest of Ireland. Towering cliffs, deserted golden beaches and rocky headlands abound along the rugged coast of Donegal. Close by Inishowen largest of Donegal's peninsulas is an area not only laden with history but has cliff top roads offering great views. Nearby Derry can offer a full day out, and a chance to walk the historic city walls, cruise the river Foyle or perhaps a touch of retail therapy.

For many, the highlight of the tour will be the opportunity to watch the NW200 road races. This event like the IOM TT races is run on normal roads and is one of the few chances to witness the sheer speed of racing at close quarters. The circuit is 11 miles long and triangular in shape  following the A2 from Coleraine to Portstewart, the coast road to Portrush, and the A29 back to Coleraine.

Although the actual race day is Saturday there is plenty of events going on beforehand with practise sessions, vintage bike displays , mini motos and much more. On race day the closing of the roads signifies an exciting day of racing and a chance to see not only today's great champions but future ones, after all this is home to the Dunlop family!!

Once the racing is over we have decided to stay over until Monday thus avoiding the crush as 160,000 racing fans make their way home. A morning ferry gets us back to the mainland for midday from where we take our leave

 If you do not need overnight accommodation on Wednesday night ( ferry leaves Cairnryan 1400 hrs) please deduct £30 from cost 

** The amount of single rooms available is very limited however if you are willing to share there is a good chance we can get you on the tour, and save you money.
