15 Day Mekong River Explorer

As we travel on this all-encompassing journey, we look forward to sharing our passion for motorcycle touring and this beautiful destination. We will  ride through Isaan where you can observe Thai rural life as it was centuries ago. This is the region least touched by progress and somewhat misses out on the prosperity experienced by other parts of the kingdom. The Isaan folk are independent lot, and in spite of their grim poverty, they view life with a blend of fatalism and good humor.  The life is best exemplified in the music and dances of Isaan. They have a rhythm and feel that makes you want to be a part of it. Join us as we experience the dynamic and vibrant eastern coast of Siam Bay, the natural wonder of tropical rainforests of Khao Yai,  the Angkor Wat style temples of Phanom Rung , the colourfull Isaan villages, relaxing tree-lined avenues of Vientianne-the capital of Laos, intriguing forest temples,  noisy Indochina market in Nong Khai, boat trip across Mekong to Laos and to prehistoric rock paintings and bustling streets of Bangkok.

Itinerary

DAY TWO: Free for sightseeing, shopping and enjoying the sand beach in front of the hotel. In the evening the motorcycles will be delivered. Accommodation with breakfast in Jomtien.

DAY THREE: First touring day. 290 kilometers. From Jomtien to Aranyaprathet. We shall ride through some of the least populated areas (except jungles) of Thailand. These region was part of Cambodia for centuries and offers beautiful sceneries.. Accommodation with breakfast in Aranya.

DAY FOUR: Second touring day. 390 kilometers. From Aranyaprethet to Ubon Ratchatani. On the way the visit the most magnificent monument of ancient Angkor Wat culture in Thailand, Phanom Rung. Accommodation with breakfast in Ubon Ratchatani.

DAY FIVE: Third touring day.90 kilometers. From Ubon Ratchatani to Khlong Chiam. A short ride and long Mekong River boat tour to thousands of years old mural paintings, to the Moon River and to Laos. Accommodation with breakfast in Khlong Chiam.

DAY SIX: Fourth touring day. 310 kilometers. From Khlong Chiam  to Nakhon Phanom along Mekong River. There are some dramatical views of unusual rock formations near the town of Mukdahan. Accommodation with breakfast in Nakhon Phanom.

 DAY SEVEN: Fifth touring day. 260 kilometers. From Nakhon Phanom to Bung Kan. We shall walk among volcanic formations to Jet Si waterfall, climb 1000 steps and cross several bamboo bridges to get to the top of the forest temple Wat Phutok. Accommodation with breakfast in Bung Kan.

DAY EIGHT: Sixth touring day. 140 kilometers. From Bung Kan to Nong Khai along Mekong River. We shall see the narrowest point on the river and visit temple Wat Ahorn. Nong Khai has a big Indochina market with goods from Vietnam, China, Laos and Burma. Accommodation with breakfast in Nong Khai.

DAY NINE: Seventh touring day (and laundry day). 10 kilometers. We shall ride to Thai-Laos border (the only bridge across Mekong-visas are arranged here). Tuk-tuk taxi will take us to the capital of  Laos Vientianne (30 kilometers) where we shall spend a day. In the evening we shall return to Thailand. Accommodation with breakfast in Nong Khai.

DAY TEN: Eigth touring day. 290 kilometers. From Nong Khai to Loei. Mekong River rapids and mountains of Loei province (the only cold region of Thailand with climate similar to Chinese Yunan area). Accommodation with breakfast in Loei. 

DAY ELEVEN: Ninth touring day. 370 kilometers. From Loei to Pak Chong. Highest mountains of Loei and plains around Chayapum. Accommodation with breakfast in Pak Chong.

DAY TWELVE: Tenth touring day. 290 kilometers. From Pak Chong to Jomtien. We shall ride 100 kilometers through tropical rainforests of Kao Yai mountain range (waterfalls, monkeys, tigers and wild elephants).. Accommodation with breakfast in Jomtien.

DAY THIRTEEN: Motorcycles returned in the morning and after free for sightseeing, shopping and enjoying the sand beach in front of the hotel. Accommodation with breakfast in Jomtien.

DAY FOURTEEN: Taxi transfer to Bangkok after breakfast. Free for shopping and sightseeing in Bangkok. Accommodation with breakfast in Bangkok.

DAY FIFTEEN: Airport - return flight 

Tour Pricing

Our tour package uses quality accommodation. Hotel rooms are air-conditioned and have en-suite bath/shower and WC, direct dial phone, TV and fridge. Hotels have 24 hrs room service and laundry facilities, on Grand Tour all of them have a swimming pool. Breakfast is included. Tour price includes the use of motorcycle while touring, 14 nights hotel accommodation with breakfast and transfer from Bangkok Airport to the hotel at Jomtien Beach and back to Bangkok hotel. Prices shown include accommodation in single rooms. Accommodation commences the first day of the tour and terminates the last. Pillion riders are assumed to be sharing a room with their driver. Tour price does not include airfare, meals, snacks, beverages and refreshments, entrance fees, pre and post tour hotel accommodation, items of a personal nature, passport and visa fees, fines, gratuities, laundry, phone-fax calls, personal insurance.
