15 Day South Thailand Tour

15 Days (including arrival and departure days) Approx 2800 Km

Tour start dates for 2006

23rd April
13th June
white sand beaches, green islands, coconut lined bays; The South has them all. Beach parties at Koh Samui, nightlife at Patong Beach and tranquility of Krabi and Phang Nga bay. If you want to find "The Beach", it is there. For years people searching for tropical nirvana were visiting this part of Thailand. In the South are Thailand's beautiful islands with beaches that have been immortalized in postcards and dreams. With early "tsunami" warning system in place we shall tour safely. We are also going to avoid the "deep South" provinces. It will not be only riding, you will snorkel and dive, go on boat trips to the islands, explore caves and remote Buddhist sanctuaries…Two days in the seaside resort on Eastern seaboard, three days on Ko Tao and Samui island, two days in Krabi, a day in Pang Nga and Phuket, five days exploring the Bay of Siam and Andaman coasts of Thailand and finally a day and half in Bangkok for shopping.

Days 1-2 (Jomtien Beach distance from airport 140 km)
*your fellow travelers will be arriving at all times from around the world today, so there are no arranged activities for the daytime. Our taxi driver will pick you up at Bangkok Airport and take you to Jomtien Beach hotel. We will hold a meeting in the evening when everyone arrives. We will leave a note at reception explaining this. In the morning of Day 2 we recommend you to relax at the pool or the sand beach opposite the hotel to get rid of jet-lag. Later you can do some shopping particularly items you might need on the tour. After lunch motorcycles will be delivered - so you can go for an afternoon ride and pack your things in panniers.

Days 3-4 Buddhist cave temples and beaches of Western coast of Gulf of Thailand
*your suitcases with items not needed will be deposited at the hotel. After the breakfast we shall ride to Cha Am situated SW of Bangkok. We use more pleasant route around Bangkok - not so many lorries and less traffic generally. We still have to take the ferry to cross Praya river. Between Bangkok and Cha Am we shall stop twice. First to visit Khao Yoi caves with Buddhist shrines and later we shall take a Swiss style cable car to the top of the Khao Wang hill to see king Monghut,s royal retreat from 19th century. Arrival at Cha Am (hotel) in late afternoon - still a chance for a swim in the sea or hotel pool. Overnight stay in Cha Am. Day 4 We shall ride through Hua Hin - a popular holiday resort and after 90 kilometers through Khao Sam Roi Yod (mountain range with 300 peaks) national park. There we shall take a boat trip around mangrove forests to see wildlife - particularly monitor lizards and running fish. Arrival at Chumpon (hotel) in late afternoon. Chumpon is famous for seafood dishes.

Days 5-6 (Surat Thani province and Ko Samui Island)
*in the morning we shall ride South on the highway No 4 over the hilly area to Surat Thani where we shall take a car ferry to Samui. The crossing takes 90 minutes. Our resort is on one of the most beautiful beaches - Lamai beach. Experience night life on Samui or take an evening boat to Ko Phangan (full moon parties). Day 6 - Plenty of things to do on this third biggest island of Thailand; scuba diving, swimming, snorkeling, water sports (kayaking, wind surfing, para-gliding) or sightseeing (waterfalls, mountains ...even bull fighting). Overnight stay on Ko Samui.

Days 7-8 (Scenic ride to Krabi and boat tour around islands)
*in the morning we shall take the ferry back to mainland and ride South to Nakhon Si Tammarat first (100 km). There we shall turn west through national parks to Krabi (winding roads and great sceneries). Overnight stay in Krabi. On Day 8 Today we shall spend a day on the sea. This way we shall see completely different area. Overnight stay in Cha Am.

Days 13-14 (Bangkok and Jomtien Beach)
*departing Cha Am, we shall ride in direction of Bangkok. We shall avoid the center's heavy traffic by taking a ferry across Praya river in the suburbs of Bangkok and ride along the shore of Eastern Seaboard. The afternoon brings us back to our base hotel on Jomtien Beach. Usually the group has a last farewell dinner this day. On Day 14 you will receive a CD with photos from the tour before the taxi picks you up in the morning to take you to your next destination-Bangkok hotel. Bangkok has many sights to see and it is true shopping Mecca.
Day 15 (Bangkok-flight departure)
*depending on your flight departure you can arrange the taxi to the airport with the hotel reception. Most of the flights to Europe are late at night giving you an extra day in Bangkok. Check out time from the room is at noon but you can make late check out arrangements (hotel will not charge you extra if they are not really fully booked) or you can simply deposit your luggage at the reception for the day.
